hey all im just about to upgrade to a newer 4runner 94 after my old 86 ifs surf.
i put a 50mm OME kit in my old surf just 4 shocks and new heavy duty leafs, problem i had was front felt very rough and stiff when offroad im guessing this is because front bars wound up.
new one has 40mm body lift and 33's and standard sus.
now ive spent all my money so wana get a little more height on the cheap but only want a small lift for now as i dont wanna wind torsion bars right up.
my thoughts are get some 30mm spacers made up. Use my OME front shocks off my old surf and buy some new rear shocks maybe OME to match.
what effects do spacers have for onroad and offroad? will i get better travel with spacers than standard?
or is it a complete waste of time and beter off getting 50mm lift springs.
I have very little money for now and dont want a harch setup like my old one.
and seems if torsion bars arent up so much i will have more down travel in front and less harsh.
will it be ok 2 use my old front shocks thare are designed for 50mm lift?
thanks for your help
surf 4runner coil spacers good or not?
hey bud
coil spacers will only lift the surf, they wont give you anymore suspension travel at all only adjusts height.
youre front shocks wont fit the newer surf they are different mounts & way too long.
leave the torsion bars alone & get some 50m.m ball joint spacers & use some 4wdbits 50m.m rear coils(not the hvy rate ones!)and just some shocks to suit a 50m.m lift....
the newer surf will feel a bit hard in the front aswell thats why you dont wana tension those bars anymore.

With 33's and standard suspension and just a 40mm body lift you are going to have rubbing up the front behind the wheel on the arch.
I'd recommend a 50mm lift spring in the back and wind the front torsions 30mm only. Combined with the body lift and a little work with a BFG and this suspension setup works ok
A Ball Joint spacer will give you a little (30mm) extra compression (UP) travel in the front. However you will need to modify the Upper A-Arm or tap the ball joint to get these to fit. Any bigger than a 30mm spacer and you will have to cut the A-Arm. (I still have mine waiting to Fit)
A coil spacer can be fitted to the rear to give lift only. This is useful if you carry around alot of stuff and the rear end sags all the time. However a 50mm spring lift and a coil spacer will require a adjustable panhard rod or drop bracket to get the diff center again to the chassis.
Get rid of the rear sway bar ,makes a huge difference off road and minimal on road. you can also disconnect the front sway bar for off road only ,which helps a little
