Overheating 2LT!!!!

Post by brianr70 »

just looking for advice, have a 93 Surf with the dreaded 2LT.

had fitted extra temparture guage plus has the 2.5" exhaust thing.

recently on the slightest hill or any load the engine temparture shoots up to over 100 degress C. General round town temparture hangs around 80-90 degrees. :? :? :?

Motor was rebuild about 20000kms ago after the 'cracked head syndrome' happened.

does anyone have any ideas what is causing problem :?: :?:

wondering if a slightly mud covered radiator would contribute?

i would be pulling the radiator out, getting it cleaned and flushed, flush and check the rest of the cooling system replace the thermostat and make sure the fan is working, for a little time or couple of hundred if someone does it you will save alot in the long run, some people make up gaurds and add extra fans to the radiators as well which might be worth looking at if your filling it with mud all the time.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!

dude i dread to say it but i would suspect the head is gone again did you repair it last time or replace it? if it was repaired they may have missed a hairline crack between the valves ,follow all previous advice first then i can only hope the best for you............. however i happen to have a good head etc for sale on site if you need it

I can honestly say rebuilding these heads are real difficult as they tend to crack between valve stems and welding is not a guaranty that its fixed but may hide the crack until pressure is put on it then reappear (ive had the same problems with these heads) all the best dude ................
