2lt recoed engine fuming and smoking ONLY when hot!!!

Hi guys, new to this....just had this engine freshened up with new rings/bearings, head tested o.k, reco-ed turbo, starts good from cold with no smoke until reached operating temp which then fumes from breather and tail pipe, when revved big puffs of blue/white smoke from tail pipe then fades to nothing with prolonged accelaration, when cold need to pump the primer pump to get diesel pressure up and then starts straight away with no smoke UNTIL it gets hot. Any ideas on what could be the problem and any fixes would be greatly appreciated.

if your having to prime all the time it sounds like leak in injector pump (or sometimes filter/hoses). that can cause blue/white smoke a the pump sucks air into the fuel.

fumes from breather is normal. typical surf, they blow heaps of oil out the breather. fit a decent catch can.

well that was a big fat bullseye!replaced hoses , non-return vavle inline before primer pump,checked all other connections,and now my 2.4 lives!!!!!!!cheers mate! am now going to folloiw up by doing my injectors, having timed[manual pump]etc.thanks heaps.tim
