an old friend of mine is looking at getting this, hes only gona use it for carrying hay around the feilds.

what should he look out for?

Rust is the only killer of those things, anything mechanical is easily repaired/replaced

the windscreen frame, rear panel in the cab, bottem corners at the rear of the tub, firewall seams, door pillars, floor pan, headlight panel are the commen rust places to look at first :mrgreen:

He should be able to find an old rustbucket with no WOF or Reg as a farm hack for around $1000. 2F petrol or 3B diesel motors never die...

Mechanically those things are pretty sound. Good solid engines. Just check for cancer where sadam suggested.
Nothings a problem if you don't give a f#ck.

I've had one of those and god they just keep on going..BUT rust is the killer....check under the floor matts..sills..you know the drill..
