I cooked my truck a couple of weeks ago on the way to a run at rununga and after engine sounded like I had a slipping belt. has been in the shed for bar work since and I tighted the belts (aircon was loose) ti find noise still there, so listen closer (had to climb a ladder to get my head in under the bonnet enough to find sorce. seems I cooked the turbo's bearings, so am now in the need of a replacement, do any of you guys know of any other ones that fit straight in? or am I doomed to find a good second hand CT26?

buy a complete rebuild kit ake sure it includes carbon seal and if you can ask for the thrust washer/the bit the the cabon seal runs on it doesnt come in the kit but will only cost another $20. i just got my kit plus the thrust washer for $301.
rebuilding it in my opinion is better than buying 2nd hand as you know ehat youve got. get everyhting bead blasted and get the shaft and impellors ultra sonically cleaned, that cost me $30, well worth it better than spending hours with carbon cleaner and a rag!!
any decent diesel/turbocharging outfit should be able to get the rebuild kit for you.
and you wont need to get it balanced aslong as you mark where on the shaft the postion the impellor was before you pulled it off and then put it back in the right place. you will also need a decent set or circlip pliers or 2 nails with the point filed off slip jaw pliers and sumthing round to let the nails pivot on...hehe works a treat if you forget to get large circlip pliers!!

Who did that cleaning for you? I cleaned it by hand and I don't wanna do that again.
I rebuilt my garrett turbo a while back with a rebuild kit from Ebay. Much cheaper if you want to go that way.
Are carbon seals fitted to all the CT26's or just the petrol versions? Most diesel's don't need them.

just a workshop in town. yea i own a diesel and it had the carbon seal, as far as i know all ct26 have them..but dont hold me to that.
yea you really dont wanna have to clean the turbo buy hand lol. just dont get the shaft an impellors bead blasted!!
