Electrical issue???

Hi Toyota heads, I was driving home from work the other night and the 13bt died, was doing 60km/hr and it just stopped dead not even a splutter. tried to start it and it would fire once off the starter but not run???? (truck usually starts on the first compresion stroke even if I do not wait for the pre heat) flattened batteries and would not wind over (did not take long probably tried about ten goes to get it runnning) charged first battery on Sunday and went to swap out other one and thought I'd try it and first flick of the key away she went???? have started then removed battery lead and turned everything on (air con lights etc) and there was plenty of power coming from alt to run every thing with out batteries. when I turne something on the volt meter would drop for a split second then come up again which would sujest the regulator is working well. any ideas?

Dodgey wire to the injector pump maybe???

Yep, I have had that in the past as well.
Like H20 suggests, it was a dodgy injector pump wire.

yeah what I thought had to either be the fuel shut off solinoid or one of the vacum switchs under the front guard. Any one know what they should be for? my wiring diagram in my manual is crap.
