2.4 turbo surf with 35. . . . .

Post by 86-surf »

i thought you guys said that it would be guttles as hell?? it still goes the same as it did with the 31's (this is with 4.3 gears and the turbo boosting 10psi:D

Oh ANd i swapped my 33x13.5s (same size as 31's tho) for 35x12.5s with about 10 or so mm's of tread, all he wanted was the 10'' rims, i don't know why tho?. he owns a big safari.

SO now that we tested the 35s on the surf the body lift has to go in, the 35s rubbed on full lock and wen compressing left wheel wen turning left. and ive also found a mate who can plumb in my topmount intercooler.

Sounds like you scored a good deal on the new rubber Jase. Would bottle the Surf ; probably the only 2.4TD worldwide that didn't have its performance degraded by going from 33" (circa 31" by your own admission) to 35" tyres.

all i got was a little clutch slippage wen i change from 1st to 2nd and thats only wen gong up hill in 2wd.
It really surprized me because of what i had herd, but it will be interesting to see how it handles the body lift to.
It's a hell of alot smoother on the road to..

Ive also found a mate who can make me some balljoint spacers. so hopfuly sonnish my front end will be level with the rear.

might have to start budgeting for a clutch.... if its doing that in 2wd just going from 1st to 2nd imagine what it will do in 4wd or when your giving it some stick...

got any pics with the 35s on it yet? the surfs look mean with big rubber :P

I'm going to try 35s (actual 34) on a 2LT with 60 series landcrusier diffs (3.7 ratio) so I'm expecting it to be even more miserable then the previous combination - 31s (actual 29.5ish) on 3.3 ratio diffs.

My motor is freeboosting, the most I've seen is 15psi at about 3250rpm. It didn't sound very nice but I'm looking forward to popping the motor so I can swap a 1UZ in

Where are the PIC’s! A Surf on 35's with no Body lift, would look mean

What brand of 35's did you score and how do they actually measure up? I can feel the difference going from a 31 to 33 with the a 1KZ ,so i cant imagine what it would be like going 29 to 35 with a 2LTE
