URGENT cruiser diff question

is a 60series diff the same as a 40s diff?

just a different width .longer on the long side

The diff heads are the same but the diff housings are different widths, and the 40 series diffs have a different bolt spacing on the driveshaft flange to the 60 and 70 series :mrgreen:

then how do we have discs on this 40 :D
89 safari, pto winch, 33x15 simexs. sliders,75mm lift . turbo intercoolered

It'll have 60 or 70 series swivel housings with the caliper mounts on them :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Not all 40 and 60 flanges are different. The flanges are the same on my 83 FJ40 and an 86 FJ60 I wrecked....

That was the third 40 series that i have had that did have disks, they were a factory option from 1976 on and quite a few were imported into NZ

yes. the 40 diff head will bolt into a 60 housing and vice versa,as mentioned some drive flanges are different bolt spacing depending on year. the later model 40's have the same fine spine pinion as the 60's so you can swap the flanges over if needed.

$1354 for all new parts to repair this truck minus brake calipar thats coming , got to love new parts for old gear

you could buy a wreck for that and get the bits off it and more
