what shocks to run and leaf mods?

Ive fitted terrain tammer springs with 50mm lift into my 70 series. What shocks do people run on the front that have enough extension and compression??
Also i find the springs to be quite tough and harsh. Thinking about removing a leaf or two to soften them up and maybe improve flex. Has anyone else done this?? any improvement and what leafs did you remove.
