A VX Cruiser [ 1992 ] Free Wheel Hub Question

Post by furnace »

Can anyone tell me where i can buy the kit for free wheel hubs for the VX Cruiser and the price..this kit allows you to use free wheeling Hubs on the VX other wise you have to have the centre diff in for them to work which means the crown wheel and axle still turn,i have seen them advertised in Aussie but not sure where,i'm not sure if it goes in the transfer case on the centre diff...Cheers

Do you mean a part time 4wd kit?

http://www.marks4wd.com/products/part-t ... PT4WD.html

This means that your front diff only spins when you push the centre difflock button. The kit also comes with free wheeling hubs too.

You can put free wheel hubs on, unlock them and then lock the centre diff to effectively have RWD though the front diff will still be spinning.

The above kit is the best way to part time a Full Time 80 Series.

I priced that part time kit and the shipping was around $100AUD so all up you're looking at $625AU.

I was curious tonight  and pulled my front driveshaft out.

Man, what a difference! Steering is sooooooooooo much lighter and more responsive, acceleration has improved, no more diff clunking when changing gear so changes are smoother and best of all I CAN DO SKIDS!

Of course this is just a poor mans Part Time 4WD, now to start saving for the proper kit :D
