Are you going to NDT (non destructive test) it to make sure the replacement one hasen't started cracking also.

How would i do that?, dont want another one to break especially since i drive it on the road. I think the bush wreckers one is a bit bent out of shape cause the steering rod keeps hitting the leafs and turn it round and it hits the front. Are there different sizes?

Over time the C arms have been upgraded . The newer ones are have been strenghtened considerably in two places to stop them breaking.

I personally would not touch a second hand one without knowing its history.''

When I ran C arms I replaced them every 2nd year with a new one after experiencing one break.

in the old truck I had one bend downwards so much from hitting when the truck was flexing that it clashed with the spring, got caught and I drove straight off the road on a corner.
Fortunately there was plenty of room as I had wife and 2 boys onbard at the time. went x over steer soon after then hi steer :D

Any decent engine reconditioning place should be able to do it for you, they would most likely do a Dye Penetrant Test, arm needs to be completely degreased and even then it may not show cracks it there is still grease stuck in the cracks.
A better method to use would be Magnetic Particle Inspection. Part will still need to be cleaned but a bit of grease or dirt in the cracks will not hide the cracks.

If you are getting one off Wayne I imagine he may be able to get it tested with all the contacts he seems to have.

Or if you are not in a hurry for one I can get it tested in 2 weeks time fro free at work.

Thanks

Cool got an engine reconditioner next to the wholesaler so should be able to drop it in easy enough. I will be going hi-steer soon but funds just don't allow for it at the moment. Had all the cash there, then realised my engine was poked so that kinda needed to be replaced instead.
