Re: fj40 caster
The caster angle is fixed and cant be changed unless you cut and alter the spring perches or cut and rotate the swivel balls?

Oh your planning a coil conversion arent you

Re: fj40 caster
so he needs to know 80 series castor angles then
I would of thought it would be similar to the 40 and un-adjustable, unless you buy adjustable radius arms

80 Series on 35" creepies, manual with twin factory lockers.

Re: fj40 caster
im planning on cutting all mounts off the diff
i will be using safari radius arms, springs, perches and panard rod
so any existing mounts will be gone and the safari stuff put into its place even on the chassis
so jus need to know what the caster angle should be have been told 1.5 deg + if that sounds correct??

Re: fj40 caster
Planning something remarkably similar. Was going to do one side at a time keeping a level on the original leaf spring mount and then line up the second with the first.
Not too much of an issue for me as mines purely off road and wont be seeing any high speed stuff...
Removing mounts from a safari diff is alot of fun not - trust me.

The correct castor angle for an FJ40 on leaf springs will be different to using nissan radius arms
With leaf springs the castor angle doesn't alter much and at a guess I would say 1 degree
With Radius arms the castor angle depending on lift alters considerably.
On a Safari (don't quote me ) but I think it is 2.6 degrees
I am running 3.4 degrees with my nissan setup but that is at the limit without wheel shake.
Cheers Richard

If you block your truck up level and pop the front hubs and swivel housings off, you can knock the swivel bearings out and put a piece of tube through the kingpin holes and measure the angle or mark it off to some referance points on the truck to duplicate the same caster
