1999 Diesel HiLux - click on start problem

Post by williamhamilton »

Hi, my ute has been playing up for ages but seems to be getting worse lately. Sometimes when I try to start it will click but not engage the starter. A few more tries and voila starts sweet.

Any suggestion what is wrong - starter solenoid or something?

There are only 3 things that give trouble

1 Battery or connections

2 Solenoid contacts Both these makes clicking sound

3 Clutch Makes a load grating noise

not sure if they use a relay before the starter solinoid or not.
can be worn/burnt relay or ignition switch.
