Prado recall

Post by mylux »

Hi all,
Just got a letter from toyota about a recall on our 97 prado,
apparently the rear axle shafts could develop cracking and under severe load break.
They are going to fix free of charge new axles bearings etc
I reckon this is pretty good service as our prado is a import and at a guess is most likely a grand or so's worth of work.
Thanks Toyota. :D :D :D :D

Maybe if they built them properly in the first place they wouldn't have to recall them  Can't remeber when a nissan 4x4 was recalled

I guess they haven't built a nissan with enough power to ever put the drive gear under any pressure

Had mine done a few weeks back. Nice to get a free rebuild of the axle (seals and brgs and oil :D ).

Was around 1500 dollars for the job but free because of the recall. :D
