Whats the going rate for 10mm plasma rope?

Thanks Jerry, so what you are saying is. I should ask Stinky if this is a good price or not, maybe I could ask a few more people as well................. Oh WAIT!! That’s what I was doing!!

I will place your suggestions where the rest of your sage advice goes and hope it doesn't get caught in the u bend.

Well the guy is the manager at a well known supplier, I won't mention who they are but I will say that the supplier has a double OO in the name. So I guess the quality is ok...

I guess what I was asking, is it cheaper or the same as wholesale? Whats the going RRP? If it is that cheap then I need to find out how much he is willing to sell at that price because he said that he doen't really want every man and dog rocking up to the store. My fault I told him to expect a long line of beaten up muddy 4wd's outside the store on Monday morning.... and he was a little nervous about that happening

Tu, as I don't have a winch, no it's not for me, just trying to pass on the looovve

depends on what rope it is dude, there are cheap ropes and there are good ropes, same as most things the better stuff costs more.

so you need to tell us what the actual rope is then we can make an educated descision rather than a shot in the dark

At Manukau W/C I used 8mm from cookes (cant recall the actual brand) and couldn't break it despite nearly stalling the 8274 with a 6.5hp motor. Was a guy running the Chinese Plasma on a 10000lb (think it was 10 not 8000lb) runva and he had no end of trouble with the rope. Could be losts of causes including age of rope but I will be buying same again when it needs replacing.

I have confirmation from the supplier about the costs. He said it is cheaper than wholesale and I can have as much as I want. The price is a bit dearer than first qouted but still cheap. I will talk to one of the suppliers on ORE to see if they will buy in bulk and then supply it through the site at cost and maybe sell at retail to the general public.

I have all the details at work.

I did consider that but then thought I didn't want every rag-a-muffin and toe rag walking in off the street asking for a discount. You know how it goes when it comes to mates rates.

not to hijack this any but.. how does this compare to marine rope such as Spectra and Vectran? high load and low to zero stretch and priced well - sounds like an ok combo.

Think you would find that to get the breaking strain required prices would be similar. Bonus being you can get braided covered ones but they are extremely hard to splice, the un covered ones are usually only avalible in the smaller sizes (or used to be) I am sure if they could be used they would have been and you will probably find they were the inspiration for the current "plasma" brands
