Toyota International recall

Re: Toyota International recall
Typical Americans.
Can't even fit floor mats properly, then expect a manufacturer to pay when they crash or whatever.
And we get calls all the time at work because someone gets online and sees a recall somewhere in the world so it must apply here. WRONG.
If there is a recall in NZ the manufacturer will get in contact with YOU.

Well if it like the Hilux Steering Relay Rod Recall...it will be 3 yrs after the rest of the world is told....If they can get away with not telling people to save them money they will.

Wrong.... they go to LTSA & get a list of all the current registered owners of the vehicles effected & do a mail out to them....as they did to me with my Jap import multiple owner surf in the relay rod recall

Actually TNZ go through the regos quite often (every 6mths or there abouts) and will send out a recall notice it if sees that the recall hasn't been done by a dealer, even if the vehicle has been sold.
So it will get picked up...just may take till next round of checks.
The recalls on the relay rods (surfs) and axles (prados) only affected a certain chassis range so if you haven't got a notice your truck may not need it done.
If in doubt though check with your local toyota dealer.Just takes a ph call. They will put it in the system to see if it needs it done.
(Just as a side note....check next to your chassis/model plates.
If there is a little yellow dot next to it, the recall has been done in Japan.
That goes for the prado axles as well)

I can back that, I spent 3 years working in the parts and service side for Toyota, they are very proactive at getting wrongs righted.
What other manufacturer would do a recall and repair on a vehicle that was sold new up to 16 years ago????
Got a Daihatsu Something, hasn't got a Daihatsu engine.... or diffs.... and it doesn't have windows.... or doors.... but its got tyres....
