Any advice appreciated.

Post by Teds106 »

Hey there,
I have an 89 Ln106 hilux double cab which im looking at repowering and lifting. First thorts were to go to lexus v8 but have heard a few negative reports about them. the other possibility was to turbo the existing 2.8 that it already has? Secondly i want to do a 2 inch suspension lift. Where is the best place to start and wat do i need to get. have heard to many different stories now i dont no wat to believe. any advice on this would be much appreciated and/or any other modifications you can suggest
Cheers

ln106 is the same as ln65 aye? solid axle front? leaf sprung all round?
Where in the country are ya....
I have a ln65 hilux parked up on blocks with brand new maxitrac suspension all round that has a 50mm lift in it (shocks, springs, shackles, bushes, u-bolts).
In the engine bay is a 350 Chev bolted up to a hilux 5 speed.

If thats your sort of thing come make me an offer :D
Kind of over it and want to start on something new

jerry jerry jerry... there was never a V6 supra

my pick would be turbo the 2.8 or drop a commy V6 in it with modified sump so it doesnt run outa oil.

have seen and raced against a turbo'ed 3L and that thing flies!! but you wouldnt want to go that crazy, few more ponys makes them still reliable as and much nicer to drive.

the LN106 is a good ute
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!

Welcome aboard!
Projects/mods is a good place to start or look at build threads?
Though Richard (bulletproof) would tell you different.

Ted, It's your lucky day :) , you have asked for advice and as I am in such a good mood I will give you some ------- , for free, I would usually charge you a 20% fee for what you would spend on your mods but hell lets help someone out :? .
Now listen (I should say READ).
Fit some Rated Recovery Hooks, front and rear,
Fit Snorkel,
Fit 33" Mud Tyres,
Find some Tuition ( 4WDing),
Get some mates and go out and learn what you and your HiLux are capable of.
Enjoy your vehicle and mod it as you and your vehicle improve.

NOW WHATS 20% OF $20,000,

FITZY.
