1990 Hilux 22r

Post by waxer »

Hi There, i new to this site. I have just picked up a 1990 Hilux with the (apparently) scarce 22r engine. I thought this would be the best option as i do predominantly road driving and wanted something very reliable as i plan to have it as my beach, surf / ski trip wagon for a long time. I have just been reading about timing belts etc, seems mine is making the 'rattly' noise you read about on the web, indicating worn guides? so i think i need a replacement timing chaink it so my question is a. where can i get the kits from in NZ? b. is it a job for a complete novice mech (me) c. are there any hilux specialists in Auckland. Many thanks Chris
