Hilux Diff

Post by Crunch82 »

Hi I,ve got 94 hilux and the rear diff is making a clicking noise when you put your foot down or take your foot of the accelerator. You can only here it when you have the window down, you cant feel any vibration when driving either. Any idea what it is I'm worried I might need to replace the diff.

mmm probably be best to pull the diff head out and have a look, does it have any up and down play? (pinion bearing) or if you turn the driveshaft side to side? (excessive backlash)
Otherwise the pin that holds the spyder gears make be worn/smashed also.

Are you sure its definitely coming from the diff? (not worn supension bushes, loose u-bolts, snapped spring centre bolt etc) as its possible your whole axle is moving.

Hope this heaps,
cheers, DAN
