g52 behind 2lt

Post by JONO250 »

looking at replacing the worn out w56 box in my ln60 surf with a rebuilt g52 that I got for free. the g52 that I got is out of a hilux, the transfer case looks different, do i need to run the w56 one? and will the w56 bellhousing bolt up to the g52??

W56 has transfer lever out the top of transfer box
G52 has transfer lever out of gearbox, has internal linkages that go through to the transfer, which is why they look different, not interchangeable, as they also have different splines.
So the transfer case lever on a W56 is a few inches further back on a W56 box.
Bell housing will swap

YEP.
ln60 would/should have had a G52 originally, I swapped out a G52 for a W56 in my yn60, just had to take 40-50mm out of the back of the hole in the trans tunnel. I filled in the front of the hole so I could fit the rubber boot and surround from the W56.
You just need to do the opposite I guess...

not 100% sure,it came on the back of a motor thats now in my truck but ofcourse with sticks being different i took it off as i didnt want to mod interior, the old owner said it was all good and hed never had any troubles with it so i had full intensions of using it and expecting no problems,im just down in weymouth,if ya want you could come over and we could drop the oil out of it and inspect together so you kno what youd be getting, and yeh,i think ive got a clutch line somewhere aswell, let me know what ya think or txt me on 02102789016,chandler
