Hi yah All.
Sound board!
Had to remove the radiator in the KZJ78 Prado today. Full of mud and debris.
Try and do it once a year.
Always a ticky job. (or after a very clay / muddy water crossing puddles type trip)
Anyhow, noticed my Air Cond condenser fins are corroded and full off mud. (Its infront of radiator) And some are falling out. System works just, but could do with a charge up.
Been thinking about pulling it out and converting pump to on board air.
Question is its still a functioning unit.
Do I keep it, or strip it out.
Any thoughts out there.
Calvin

Love mine, wouldn't go without. Two reasons
4WDing in the rain with steamed up windows is no fun.
Going to Macetown on a HOT day, cool and no dust

mine a black truck would cook in it without aircon, also can put on full cold, and dehumit the interior after it gets all wet

Re: Do you still have Air Cond in your Club trucks
wish i had kept it in mine, I tore it all out when i put the V8 in as the air con was pretty stuffed and didn't want to have to fix it all. Air con is awesome in a bush truck for all the reasons the guys have said above.
Re: Do you still have Air Cond in your Club trucks
yep, used it all weekend to keep the iside of the truck dry. When the interior gets flodded on the westcoast I can have it dried out by the time I get back to CHCH.

I converted to on board air a while back, didn't do too bad with out it,still have heater working so was OK in the cold, and when its hot I just wound down the windows, now that the old motors gone I'm back to neither, this time round ill probably go for dive dank for air and I'm still deciding if I get a air con pump, would be a nice extra if I can be bothered setting it all up again

Re: Do you still have Air Cond in your Club trucks
my aircon is gone , to much mud and crap all ways trapped between the condenser and radiator. Was having to pull the radiator every trip. In the process of being converted to on board air
heater is another story all together , wouldn't be without it .
IMHO AC is not really required in NZ , it doesn't really get that hot or cold here.
trivial info as well , AC systems due to their nature , positivity charge air particles in the AC process . good clean air is negativity charged . this is why you feel tired and dehydrated after being in AC for a long period of time.

No A/C. There is about 3 times a year I wish I did have it. almost always on gravel roads with camping gear we haven't packed properly that I'd rather not get dusty, but we do fine without.
Heater on the other hand I would struggle without.
