Hi there,

Looking for new pistons for a 1hd-t if anyone knows of any. Or alternatively a 1hd-ft would be nice

Its not as bad as I was expecting. Bores are all good and the head has a couple of small dings in it but not really too much I can do about that short of replacing the head. Cant really see it having too many probs. The pistons are rooted though, theres lots of bits of turbo embedded into them :?

I guess an intercooler to act as a "filter" is on the cards for next time? :?

Shoulda gone Nissan Tu's. I'm thinking the same, helped a mate put in a new radiator today and can't believe the amount of crap you need to take out to get the job done  The Safari was 2 bolts and 5 mins, this was 20 odd and near a farkin hr

Oh, and while we were undoing the fan hub, the engine would turn over trying to undo the nuts with a 12mm spanner, so had to hold the hub to stop it spinning :(

My 80 has done all of 600km since owning, so might just sell up and go back to the trusty (or is that crusty) Safari's before I need to do any work on it, or discover how expensive they are to work on

You could try Don Kyatt Auto Parts in Auckland. (used to be NZ truck and bus) they do the terrain tamer line of parts and have most bits for toymotas.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Im dissapointed with it but this is the first problem Ive had with it and I do 4-500ks a week. Its only a tow wagon aswell so it doesnt do much offroading. If I planned to do more then Id probably get a nissan. I do love driving it though. Its probably my faviourite truck so far 8)

Cheers for all the help fellas, repco ended up selling me a set of arco ones for less that 1/2 of retail because no one has ever ordered them and they wanted to get rid of them :D . BNT put me onto them after they couldnt find any in NZ or aus.

Next step is finding a clutch for it. Any reccomendations
