ubolt for hilux lift springs - where can I get on a Sunday?

Post by 88lux »

So in the end my lift kit went really well. Took a bit of ingenuity to move the seized nuts on the brake lines, but otherwise went well

...until I realised I was given the wrong ubolt for the front axle! I've got only one longer flattop u-bolt for the driver's side! Not happy at all, and while the guy I got them off will surely replace the short one I have with the correct one once I get in contact, he is not local, so it would be a few days before I saw it.

Tomorrow morning I'll try ripco, but otherwise any ideas where I could try? Really would like to get the truck either in, or out of the garage by monday, and I don't like the idea of doing that by roliing on the jack.

you only need the flat top one for the drivers side to stop the draglink fouling under compression, is the flat-top one too short to fit? if not use it with the other 3 originals, unless they are too short and who-ever sold it all to you shoulda measured them. and before the aftermarket leafs start to sag in the front i would suggest getting an OME fitting kit installed to correct the saddle plates.....

Thanks for the offer mudlva, but I ended up sorta kinda making a u-bolt with a couple of coach bolts and a bit of square tube. Not going to drive on it, but I've got the truck back in the garage at least.

The trouble is not the 1 flat bolt, but that I only have 1, and the other bolts are too short. The flat bolt is about 210mm, but all the others are 180mm (from memory). Now that I think about it, I'm not sure what it is that is taking up the extra height on the drivers side, but there is no way I can get the shorter bolts to reach the bottom plate.

What's the deal with the "fitting kit" to correct the saddles? Is this some sort of castor correction wedge? Saddles look pretty good to me, but maybe I'm missing something.

Is there a trick to getting the torque arm back on? I think my whole diff is further forward now, and I can't get the arm past the top plate of the mounting bracket. Brute force would probably do the job, but I'm a little scared to push too hard, with the front end right up on axle stands.

basically all hilux saddles are soft and warp slightly... they need to be heated/hammered dead flat then have support plates added...
