1kzte problems

Post by RustySurf »

Looking at buying a 1kzte surf thats had the engine rebuilt with a brand new head fitted, it smokes quite badly and knocks a bit when starting off(its auto) but once it hits boost it runs fine and has plenty of grunt.

Hi yah
Down load the 1KZTE engine manual.
Use the troubleshooting section.
Also has all the setup info for timing etc etc.
Will help / answer alot of your questions.

Lots of other good toyota stuff on this site, also a bit of Nissan and LR.

Find out what sort of head they put on it... ie Toyota or after market.... & if the head bolts/studs were also replaced.
They should of also put on a new waterpump , thermostat & had the radiator rodded.

If you are in Auckland get Alltech on the shore to have alook also. They'll pressure test it too. Not bad on their prices as well.
