old fire extinguishers

Post by Heath »

Got about 8 old extinguishers (little dry powder ones) still charges but past their cert dates. Have mounting clamp thingees too for a few of them.

Would suit being made into small air tanks (thats what I got them for).

Any one interested in a couple or one? Dont think they can be couriered as they are still charged so pick up only (sorry).

Empty them at your leisure (show the kids / family how to use one maybe  without using a good one).

I'll be in Chch next moth so if someone down there wants one let me know and i'll put one/two (whatever) aside.

First in best dressed...

They are the little 1 kg (or there abouts) ones. Do you have a pick up person here in Aucks? My weekends are pretty full on at the moment with final touch ups on the house (condition of sale) and packing shite so I dont have time then - sorry.

When I fly through Welly It's going to be a mad dash to the ferry so not much time for drop offs (if any). Alternatively drop off/pick up in Taupo as I will be there on the 10th of Nov from around 6pm (well closer to kinloch actually and I may be there in a couple of weeks also).

Be very careful using old extinguishers as air tanks .
They should be pressure tested every 5 yrs.
They can & have been known to explode & kill people.

Good point.

Yeah the max pressure I would use these for is 100psi (maybe up to 120psi at a push), but definately not more then that.

I'll dig the box out and count how many I actually have and get back to ya's.

Okay had a hunt around and I have 6.

One for me means 5 free to a good home. I have drained 3 of them and have 3 filled (they still work too).

So

Mylux - two
Nibz - one
Me - one
WJW - one

Got one left. The brackets were stuffed plastic ones, so I have biffed them.
