Does anyone know where the blower resistor is in a KZJ78 Prado? I want to fix the low fan speed as its currently not working but cant seem to work out where it is..
Any help would be appreciated.
Blower Resistor..
Re: Blower Resistor..
The older style actual ceramic resistor pack was usually in the airflow so in an air duck near the motor to stop it overheating.
Later model setups have transistor modules to control them and these can often be anywhere. Not sure what the Prado has.
Have a gander at the blower motor and ducting and see if you can see anything. Should be an obvious electrical connector.
Matt.

Re: Blower Resistor..
It may be one of the type in certain Toyotas, its a soldered coupling in the airflow, if it gets too hot, the solder melts and the device goes open circuit. repairable, but normal solder has a much higher melting temp.
then again, I could be very wrong!!

Re: Blower Resistor..
my prado is a 1993 so my next question is where is the motor for the fan? is it directly behind the fan controller? its definitely not behind the glove box as i have checked. if i can find it i will just replace it with another one. If i can help it i dont want to send it to an auto electrian...
Re: Blower Resistor..
I have a KZJ78.
If you look in the foot well area on the passenger side you will see the fan. To the right tucked up the back is the resistor pack.
See photo

Undo the one screw and it slides out. Or is it two screws, been a while.
Looks line a series of coils.
They sit in the airflow to keep cool.
I think they are the same for all 70 series, very basic design.
Soldering them wont work they get too hot.
