Good luck finding one..
I know of one in Fiji...
There is also a place in Nelson who fix ECU's
http://www.anythingelectronic.co.nz/
They did one for a club member late last year.
The Capacitors leak when they get old...

shouldnt be too tricky to replace the caps... only gets tricky if the tracks have been corroded.

Last year I was helping a guy in Canada track down an ECU.
NZ had very little stock in the wreckers and when I did find one they wanted over $500 bucks.
Then I found this one in Fiji.

Its still for sale.
I would go for the fix first...

KbushNz: that computer from Fiji doesnt match my ECU number so not sure if it will work. the auto electrian that my mechanic end up taking my truck to in palmy managed to find one up in auckland for $3XX, kinda felt i had to pay no matter what if i want to get my truck going and it seems that the ECU is rare. the truck is going again this morning but now its at the panel beating shop getting rear door dent fix thanks to the mechanic managed to back it to their garage door.. :?

the Auto electrian shop in town told me the chance of having my ECU repair is slim as a few copper tracks has been damaged thanks to a few leaked capacitor.. I left it with them as they will see if one of their guys can fix it ..if not then i will send it down to Nelson for a second opinion.. now i am in the hunt for another ECU just as a spare like old blue..

Thanks guys for the help...

Found it, has the following on it

1KZ-TE A/T

89661-60250
175800-1294 12V

Connectors are

26 Pin / 16 Pin / 22 Pin

It was a spare that I've had sitting around for a few years so if you want it, I'll send it and if it works you can pay for it, otherwise send it back :-)

thank u very much for your reply, sorry i missed out-has anybody got one, i also need the wiring loom.

i bought a 94 prado and the ecu failled within a week. we changed the ecu-the engine was running fine but a/t was slow to change gears, finally the glow plug light was on and went off itself after some time-and then the ecu failed again.
i have been looking for a ecu but was told by mechanics that this ecu no. was for a hiace-i have checked with toyota and the engine no is for a prado not a hi-ace ikz. so toyota has told me the new ecu no which is
89661-60250. i am also after the wiring loom incase there is an electrical fault.
am i doing the right thing and what are my options.

make sure the loom matches the computer as the manual and auto looms are slightly different
