F/S 4.88 surf diffs

Post by muddyhilux »

ok so due to new motor im pulling out the 4.88s and putting in 4.5s so i have

1x 2 pinion rear, done bout 220000km,have had no issues the whole 5 years ive owned truck and never got water in it

1x add ifs front dif with bout 210000km,this was my original diif which i pulled out (and replaced with)

1x non add front diff which im unsure of kms

not fussed if they're split up but would suit someone wanting to change ratios and have a spare front end which is why i never sold my original

price,im still trying to work out what theyre worth, make an offer and well go from there, also willing to trade

currently keeping an eye out for

2"lifted 80series rear coils
5x 15x10 -44 rims
and 350 chev short valve covers (matching pair  )

when i had my v6 surf on 33s with the standard 4.3 diffs i struggled to used 5th gear on the open road then changed to 4.8s and it was the best thing i did. bought the diff ratios back to standard. much easier on the clutch too. I think I paid $150 for a 4,8 front diff and think that is reasonable as they are quite hard to find.

Cheers,
Pete

do you have a gear stick you put into 4wd and manual hubs or you just press the button?ideally you want manual hubs cos then you can disconnect and save wear on the front cvs

if you do have manual hubs already i can lock the add unit so it means nothing

sweet, yeah so if we locked up the actuator on the add system it'll be effectively removed and go straight in and be sorted

I'm running a locked add system in mine right now and now worries at all
