wanted: 4x4 gearbox out of a mid 80s petrol hilux surf

im after a 5 speed 4x4 gearbox to replace the 4 speed out of my yn65 hilux, iv been told that the gearboxes out of the petrol hilux surfs around that year are a straight swap so im gonna go with one of them.

There are minor differences beteen the G52 and W56 boxes. Mid eighties IFS Surf LN/YN61 has a W56 box, You will need to trim the hole in the trans tunnel and move the boot rubbers forward, the centre console also needs to move forward.

I have a W56 box out of LN61 Surf, you would just need to swap bellhousings for it to fit your 3Y.

hey mate thanks for the reply, i am located in massterton, sounds like an easy swap to me, i had a slight suspision that i would have to change the bell housing to get it to fit the 3y.
