Handbrake locks on
Handbrake locks on
Having a few troubles with my handbrake locking on, normally after river crossing. wont go fowards but reversing it seems to clunk and unlock. Anybody else had this trouble or ideas to stop it??
Re: Handbrake locks on
Have you pulled it all apart?
if not it could be all rusted up,if you play in the water or mud you should pull them all apart and have a good clean out and lube up.

Re: Handbrake locks on
Handbrake drums are designed to self lock when you pull them on, that is the as they push out they are sort of drawn onto the drum by the rotation (if that makes sense). When you gert them wet the water can take up the space and the pads draw out onto drum locking the brakes. Reverse lets it go and the water disperses.
The clunk you hear as you back up is the shoes dropping back into place.
