1KZ-TE died

Post by tallsam66 »

Hi
Today whilst driving the Hilux died...stopped instantly ...no chugging or anything ...just like ignition had been turned off.
I coasted to a stop & then started it & then drove off.
20 minutes later did it again but this time wouldnt restart.
Towed it home ..read the ECU codes..came back with 13 & 14.
Replaced fuel filter (14 is usually this) filter was only 2-3 weeks old...had very little water in it & the filter element looked like sweet.
Reset codes in ECU....wont start..now comes back with 14.
Ive looked for any loose or broken wires & tomorrow im going to put a different ECU in it to make sure thats ok.

Anyone got any of ideas ?

I would hazard a guess and say the ECU is dead....
The other guess would be the spill control valve on the pump has died...

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Turned out to be a faulty Spill Control Valve.
Cheapest fix was to replace whole injector pump.
All sorted now :)
