would it be betterer to fit a lower temp one instead of the stock 82 deg one?, are these available from Toyota or do I have to go after market?. Any idea of part number?

KZJ95(1KZTE) not warming up
have noticed my 90 doesn't seem to be getting hot over the last couple of days(maybe its just me getting funny with all the snow and stuff), radiator doesn't feel overly hot to touch, heater doesn't seem to be getting toasty
....its not using oil or coolant (still looks green and ok) so thinking its time to change the thermostat (symptoms don't seem to be head problems from what I can see. Have cleaned out the heater sensor under the drivers kick panel and will see if both hoses are hot after a drive tomorrow.

It'll be the thermostat surely. They tend to stay open when they need replacing then when you least expext it they snap shut and overheat
Also antifreeze should be replaced every couple of years and the colour has nothing to do with the condition of it.

As Tomsoffroad said, thermostat is stuck open. They wear in on spot and then jamb up.
Just replace with another factory one....

Like everyone else said it will be the thermostat. When we bought my wifes carrolla it was doing the same thing for the owner who thought it must be something terminasl so we got it good and cheap then fitted a$20 part

Also you should have red coolant in that engine - I understand the green stuff is not recommended for the heads for some reason.
