Re: Safari parts wtd
heres a question
if you adjust your panhard to allow for a lift how does it affect the steering
im in the process of fitting a Y60 in the front of a 80LC chassis and with the steering link arm non adjustable by altering the panhard arm this must through the steering box out wouldn't it??
i was looking at fitting the panhard off the 80 as it was a/m adjustable but im unsure now if its the right thing to do
interested in your reply
cheers
PS sorry for the thread hyjack

Apologies for thread jacking as well Dave....
My understanding is it only re-aligns the body to centre and doesn't alter the steering... I may be wrong though...

Re: Safari parts wtd
I'm guess when you lift the vehicle, the steering is put out, due to the diff moving across, and the panhard will re-centre everything?
I think steering arms would need to be adjustable once you reach a certain height?
As you can see, I've answered your question with a question

just my way of looking at it is that if the panhard arm is adjusted by "X" amount then the steering link arm should be as well other wise the steering box could reach its limits on lock in one direction
another idea is to reset the pitman arm in relation to the steering box shaft to allow for the extra lenght of the pitman arm
all getting rather hard to me
Re: Safari parts wtd
Hi,
Bit of theory, the drag link should be the same length and angle as the panard so that the wheels do not turn as the suspension goes up and down, ie stops bump steer.
When you just put a lift in then your steering will change very little because of above, but axle will now be off center from the body, to correct this need to adjust the panard which will then put steering off center unless the drag link is also adjusted.
Cheers
Tim
