Warn Winch

Post by bryan.daley »

Hi,
Are there any parallel importers or cheaper places to get warn winchs.
Looking at a 9.5XP

Tried to communicate with Comeup direct have not responded back! Does anyone know where to buy these in NZ without forking out thousands?

Thanks

Is there a reason you specifically want a WARN one?

Fully Equipped are the official Warn agents and they are not interested in the four wheel drive market.

However Advanced Four Wheel Equipment (AFWE) in Mangere (phone 09 275-4850) do bring in the Warn winches as well (along with Ramsey and other accessories).

Just read this and the warn 9.5xp looks the bees knees but who is to say they did a good job on the test or not.

i have just completed a 24hr challenge with my runva 12000lb. It's on a lwb safari and not once did the motor get hot when using it. On the 24hr period the winch did a total of 7hrs and 25min of actual use. (only timed the loaded pulls).
some of these were double pulls so upto 50m. Was the only winch in our team that didn't fail. (Had a xd9000 warn and a toyota pto on other trucks).

While its not the fastest winch out there would have to rate it on the dependabilty front. Which is more important than speed imo.
Also comes with an exellent solenoid pack and wireless remote. Best thing is its less than half the price of a warn.

Fyi had winch open today to see what kinda water engress there has been and there is no sign at all. Was very surprised as 3-4 of the pulls we did were under water ones.

there are plenty of winches oin the market, i
have a warn XD 9000, a Superwinch Epi 9000
and a Tiger 10,000lb high speed with large drum
prefer the Tiger for speed and ease of use, also has a 6.6 hp motor
and was a lot cheaper that the others.
just a bit of advice, the superwinch also very reliable but slow
and has to be modified to fit more that 30m of rope.
retired 4wd to a ford ranger and UTV
