I'm a huge Toyota 4x4 enthusiast from Sacramento California which is right next to the world famous rubicon and fordyce trails! Me and my dad (i'm 18 y/o) have two 1985 4runners (with 22re petrols). Mine is on 35inch tires with custom suspension, lockers front and rear, ect ect... and my dads is 100% stock. I'm very jealous that you guys get diesel engines when us Americans are stuck with our shitty gas engines ! I'm hoping to import a toyota diesel with a 2lt from assuie or NZ when im older and have the money. Sucks I live in a country with stupid government regulations!!! I will post pictures of my yotas and wheeling asap!
On a sidenote my insurance assessor was flown in from the southern US & was trying to buy my Hilux (2.8 diesel on 35's) doublecab cos he reckoned it would be great in the boggy marshes he has on his farm - lucky guy had a superduty & a near monster truck sized GMC

We had to get the difs regeared from 4.10s to 5.29s so i can get up to speed faster. Theres people here that rock crawl toyotas with 22re engines that have tires 40inches+ in size! In California everyone is into rock crawling and care mainly about tourque which toyotas get from dual cases. In the south people are into Mudding.

I am sure others will add their opinions too.
Cheers Lincoln
Sadly in America you can't import a foreign diesel unless its 25+ years old. So that leaves me with a B series engine or the 2LT. When did they start putting 5L engines in toyotas?
Mine is the gray 4runner, this is at "granite bowl" which is at the start of the Rubicon Trail.

That rubicon trail looks prity good. Read bit about it on the jeep Jk forum. They talk about Moab or something too.
Yes it's beautiful, probally my favorite place in the world. I'll post more pics soon. The Rubicon trail was how the first pioneers came to California and is the first offical offroading trail. It was started by WW2 veterans with williys jeeps. Environmentalists and liberals are trying to close the trail but we won't let them!

Some more pick's would be great, that rock crawling they do over in the US.
The closest I have come to it in NZ is in the upper west coast as far as the territory goes but far more limited than Moab. Some of the chch boys go mad of big rocks though
