Water won't go up into the motor from the exhaust unless you are planning to make a submarine

But if you are talking about the engine stopping from restricting the exhaust flow by going into water, then you have nothing to worry about, they won't die, just keep burbling along until you are out of the puddle

farken oath petrols are good but so are diesels, its all horses for courses it depends what sort of driving your doing and what sort of trips you want to do. Petrol or diesels can both die in water if they arent sealed up properly but your going to have better luck in deep water with a properly setup diesel coz theres no electrics, coils, dizzys, plugs etc to die under the water

nup as per the previous post its fine so long as the engine's running and generally ok if the engines stopped but if its sunk in deep enough water and strong enough current it can force water up into an engine that isnt running whether its petrol or diesel

playing in water is a real killer on your truck, maintenence on the mechanical componants (diffs, hubs, wheelbearings, brakes, gearboxes, alternators, starter motors etc) trying to keep water out and removing water is high and silt cuts down seals pretty quick, sunk vehicles are even worce with toasted ECU's, farked wiring looms, rust/corosion from trapped water ingress and hydraulicing engines :x

I've got an old petrol hilux..goes mint offroad, idles will idle along like a diesel once in low range..although the old 4Y engine does make peak torque almost as low as a diesel which is good. Havent played in any deep water yet, snorkel is the next project on the list
