1KZTE Bellhousings

Post by kbushnz »

Hi All...
Just scored a 5 speed Landcruiser gearbox with transfercase...
Was advertised as one coming from a 96 prado...(old shape)
So initial thoughts were o.k as its the last year they came out...
And also low k's...
Now I get this feeling its from the 2.4 2LTE and not the 1KZTE as thought....
Seems a little too small in the diameter / depth department...
Did a search on the net for pics but got too confused....
So do any of you out there have a photo of the 1KZTE manual bell housing??
Or can measure the distance between the two lowest bolts..

Here is a pic of what I have

Thanks in advance
Cheers Calvin

Nah cant see one as yet, but need to give it a good clean.
Also when I checked Toyodiy.com the manual and auto version of the KZJ78 are supposed to have the same metal shim plate between the engine and auto / manual and also the same support brackets at the bottom of the box to block.
If that is the case then this bell housing I have is not a 1KZTE....
And its the R150 from a LJ7* series prado's and not the R151 from the KZJ7*.

Buts thats o.k.... If I need to find a 1KZTE bell housing so be it..
Its a long term project unless someone offers me a good $...

I thought the 2lte and 1kzte both ran the r151.

Gearbox end of the bell housing should be the same. Block end might be different.

Im just in the process of rebuilding a manual prado gearbox and it was bolted to a 1kz, Ill get a couple of pics tomorrow of the bell housing. :D
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.
