The switch for the power/normal on centre console, is this switching something in the fuel pump/ecu or in the transmission? since going manual pump, it doesn't work, so guessing it was to do with pump or ecu doing something like extra fuel, boost etc.
i want the position for another switch. but don't want to get rid of it unless its useless.
cheers, Micah.

Re: 1kz auto power button
it normally just changes the shift pattern of the trans ..... maybe affecting just the ecu

Re: 1kz auto power button
I've tried mine a couple of times and can't notice any change so must do bugger all.
Re: 1kz auto power button
As Jerry said, alters the shift points...
Power setting allows the engine to rev higher (200 to 300rpm) before changing up, also is more sensitive and kicks down sooner....
With no TPS telling the ECU what the throttle is doing then I would suggest it wont work now....

Its noticeable on my 90 series, on my 78 it just seems to turn on the power light

It used to work fine on my 78 until I did the manual pump change....
Changing the fluid also made a difference

Re: 1kz auto power button
yeah all making sense to me. it definately worked in my old 1KZ powered surf. it used to slip clutches more to stay in best torque range. but different vehicle, so not sure whether it'd be different. to be honest i cant remember it working before. but then, i barely used a tank of fuel before it went into the shed.

Micah.
