Key barrel help!

Post by 2gnscib »

So went to the shop, came back. Turned off car as per normal. Ten mins later went to start car again to take flatmate to airport. Key would not turn.

96 Terrano. Auto.

Truck is in park. Already checked that.
Tried foot on brake.
Steering wheel is in locked position and will not disengage.
Key will not turn from lock to acc.

Lucky have a spare car, but need my truck, cos its my baby.

Now it's working. Think my key is too worn.

same happens with me too, just wiggle the wheel and if that doesnt work flip the key around, usually works.

The problem is the key is worn out. You need to take the key to a decent locksmith and get them to cut a key to code( back to factory specs). A squirt of Inox or WD40 in the barrel, a new key and you are sorted. A lot of places just copy your worn key so all you get is a brand new worn key
