front beam axle ques?

Post by skidmark »

hi probably a simple question, have searched but didnt find what i was looking for..

basically have a surf that will be getting a 1uz auto and sas.gathering all big parts before i start.have a v6 surf and 1uz. surf is currently 4.56 ratio (g255 feel free to corect me if im wrong?) but so far ive seen prado and landcruiseer seem to be 4.1/4.3/4.8..is there a diff head that transfers to thoose diffs? or would i be beter to change rear diff ratio.

cheers or if any one has spear diff that is no longer requiered pm me..haha
modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....

The prado diffs are hi pinion fronts, so easiest option is to swap out your rear to same ratio, usually 4.8. But yeah, there are hilux/surf diff heads that match the prado/cruiser ratios.
If you use a hilux front diff then you have the option of running amost any available ratio 4.1, 4.3, 4.5, 4.8.
really comes down to gearing and tyre size. You may need a certain ratio to keep your final drive ratio correct.

Was planning on at least 33s but preferably 35s....so might just keep a eye out for 4.8s in that case.
