Ahh and I thought it was a cool volquartsen. Looked like one I used to own.
The 10/22 is the most customised firearm in the states. You can get all kinds of tricked out shit for them. ie that video. My current one isn't what you'd call stock but it shoots magpies out too ~150 yds. Have to aim 5.5mil high and 1.5mil to the right with the stock barrel from memory.

Just fire a couple rounds and see if its gouging the next round in the mag. Stopping this made mine a lot better, as did recrowning it which i had to do out of the box.
And subs were far more accurate at longer ranges than supers.

More deer are shot illegally in the U.S with a 22 than with any other calibre.

yeah ive got a box of subs for it see how she goes

i played with my mates one the other night (fully suppressed) as well all you could hear was the action

so i had to go out and get it haha

so what mods you done to yours

next on the cards is a bigger target trigger i think, already got the plastic buffer for behind the bolt

I took the slide out and ground a little bit off the corner that picks up the rounds. Need to be very careful as if you cake it, it won't cycle.

Floating the barrel helped mine a lot. If thats a hogue stock it may have aluminium bedding.

Polymer buffer saves the receiver and the slide from excessive damage.

I lightened my factory trigger myself cos the one they come with is crap. Changed to a volquartsen assembly later. Be careful if your filing the firing tab on the top of the assembly cos if you file the wrong one it goes full auto.

You can mod the slide lock mechanism so it auto releases when the slide is pulled too.

Keep in mind I knew what I was doing and any of this will may void any warranty but its possible to turn your stock semi into a super tack driver. Mine gives my anschutz a run for its money now.

He didn't

But if I had a new rifle and was going to Tekapo, I know were I would be heading with it, up one of the valleys

So in case thats what he was thinking about doing, i thought i might point out that it was illegal to take a rim fire rifle.

No harm done eh, just putting it out there :D :D

There's plenty of bunny popping to be done around Tekapo on private land with a rim fire, which he might be doing.

He didn't say

Take a chill pill

How much did that cost you all told? looks nice... Think I'll stick with my ancient chinese .22 tho, after 20,000 odd rounds I can still put a single round into a deers earhole at 100 yards time and time and time and time again....... and no, not in a national park, doc might think you are trying to harvest wood pigeons ;)

So is it a normal .22? or is a 10-22 more of a varmint rifle? Confused because its suppressed and shooting subsonics.

Yeah mine was a wood model maybe $500,
~$200 Harris bipod
$600 hawke scope
$60 rings
$70 maybe slip on suppressor
$20 polymer bolt buffer
$250 volquartsen tg2000 trigger group
$30 recrown

Its real easy for it to build up. I only did this cos my work can get the bits and i did the machining/bedding/assembly myself.

A suppressor quietens down all catridges you realise? Supers still have the crack to the projectile where as subs don't = silent death  Autos are always a bit louder than bolts though.

The hogue stocks and the cost of putting those suppressors on is ridiculous aye. Internally they are identical between all the models except some have the nice mag release and auto bolt release stock I think.

I have a 10/22 stainless barrel/synthetic stock which I have modded the trigger on. This thing has harvested a few thou rabbits and other pests over the years on private land and groups well. My .17 hmr mag was more accurate at much longer ranges, but once the breeze came up forget it (and the .22 mag).

Nice bit of kit there Jase.

Someone mentioned Volquartsen?

That's my favourite toy.
Mine is just a 10 x LR.22 but has a fully suppressed barrel, super lite, laser sited in for around 30m and a 3X9/45mm Leupold optics. I have a Haris bi pod but hardly use it.
But like someone said, it's just a .22 :D
My kit set me back 3k all up.

My next favourite round, the .204
I had a Weatherby .204 with Nikon optics. 9X32/50mm. Was just too heavy for me. Great groupings @ 200m+

Gun ignorant ... so rim fire opposed too centre fire ? is where the firing pin hits? correct? so why one allowed one not? is it rim fire =auto firing or something. ?
