Try carjam.co.nz put the rego in an it might have the model number as part of the chassis number, I know my hilux has.

plate in the engine bay will have it.

KZN130 or KLN130.(if originally a diesel)

scramble under the rear axle on the drivers side and let us know if the pinion housing has 3 or 4 horizontal fins on it.

most likely a ssr-G or ssr-X,

the late 80's models came with the crap 3vz-fe v6 that popped head gaskets like they were going out of fashion

trim levels inside the cab and some mechanical options such as four spider LSD with 4.5 ratios...thats why i said stick your head under the drivers side rear axle and tell us how many fins are on the pinion housing and i'll tell you what spec it is.

the ssr G was the top of the range there were X and V or just ssr where differing trim levels such as chrome grill or plastic light types, wide flares, A/C, even if you had a clock on the dash board. crap like that.

theres also a ton of options available. eg different sized tires and diff ratios. model number does not mean a whole lot.
