On a typical hilux transfercase , one that would be found behind the 2 or 2.2 petrol etc , where is the neutral position ? Ie is it between hi and low - this would imply the front and rear output is still locked together but the output is disconnected from the input . Or is it between 2wd and 4wd . I think its the former .
Lets put in another way , with the back jacked up and the front hubs all locked up where does the gearsticks need to be to turn the rear drive shaft .
2wd and gearbox in neutral ? or t/case in neutral and gearbox irrelevant ?
Cheers

Thats the way. Pretty sure (but can be corrected) that transfer box goes 2hi-4hi-neutral-4low.
So in transfer box neutral front and rear drive are connected together still
