Stretch CV boots?
Stretch CV boots?
Time has come to replace my cv boots now that both inners have split. This was due to big angles that have now been fixed with bj spacers. What is the story with these stretch boots? I know they are easier to install, but because they are so much more stretchy are they better for offroad use? I.e. the constant changing of angles and bigger angles than usual will be taken better by the stretch ones? Seems logical... I think...? Or is it much of a muchness? I would have thought if they can stretch the crazy amount they do to get over that cone they should be almost impossible to split with angles offroad?

I think he may be talking about the daily use of ther boot being able to take big angles and stretching etc as opposed to the fitting of them....
Seems like it could be worth a shot to me.
Re: Stretch CV boots?
You think lol?
Seems like stretch boots would be a better idea for offroad use to me unless there's something I'm missing. Got the truck booked in for Thurs for inners and outters to be replaced (yea can't be shafted doing it myself) and I've already got the parts (non-stretch) just wondering if I should pop back down to BNT and swap them (same price) for the stretch ones.

Re: Stretch CV boots?
Stretch boots are crap, too thin. I found the cv would sometimes pinch them on big angles. Go with the ones from bnt.

Re: Stretch CV boots?
Ah is it their lack of thickness that gives them the stretch not so much the material? Both the normal and stretch ones are from BNT. Think I'll stay with the standard style ones. Thanks! Was just about to go down and swap em haha

Re: Stretch CV boots?
Glad didn't swap em for stretch ones just spoke to the fellahs at local mechanics and they've tried them off and onroad and they actually split faster and easier than the normal ones so for anyone else wondering the same thing there's your answer!
Re: Stretch CV boots?
Interesting....
We've been fitting stretch type CV boots for years and haven't had a problem yet. They supposedly guarantee them for 2yrs/unlimited km's as well.
Only problem we had, was with the tool used to stretch them over the CV. It literally blew apart on a tech when he used it.

Re: Stretch CV boots?
what kind of lift are you running
Re: Stretch CV boots?
Really? They said that because they are thinner to stretch more they pinch and split a lot easier when used on anything with a lift and even on some cars! I haven't had any experience with the stretch ones myself so can't comment. Decided to steer clear though and go with the good ol' thick ones.
poss682 I'm running a 3" suspension lift.
