torsion bars wont ajust

jacked truck up when ya turn the bolt the ajuster arm goes up and down on the thread but it wont adjust the height of the torsions the bolt at the top isnt turning either any ideas

its probably rusted on need some of that special stuff i think its called rost off ice??? but im not to sure on that one

:| ...the "bolt" at the top should be a locking nut ...22mm from memory that needs loosening first. and if it "wasn't" working the front of your truck would be sitting on the engines sump plug so to speak...so i'd say your torsion bars will need to be slid out and moved around on the spline.

put a bit of wood inbetween end of bar and floor pan. these have a nasty habit of snapping the bolt and firing the end of the torsion into the floor.

so the bolt at the tops got to be loosened was just doing it same as last surf all i had to do was wind the bolt underneath didnt need to touch the top 1

yea exactly like that going into get some new tyres next week so will get them to do it tryed looseing that nut then winding the bolt still made no differance the ajuster arm moves up and down but wont lift the truck up no matter which way ya wind

i think what you will find is it is going up, but only by a small amount. probably have to wind it up a lot.

yea wound them right up and right down still no differnce going to let shop do it when go get some new muds

Just to clarify, You had the front wheels off the ground when you tried adjusting the torsion bars?
Once you adjusted them you let the jack down so the vehicle rested on the ground? You won't see much movement as you adjust them, only when you put the weight back on.
You have probably already done this though. but just asking to make sure.

yea done all that done 2 other surfs with out any probs this 1 just playing funny buggers :roll: :roll:
