Help with Warn Winch...

Post by icekayak »

Ok so i got a Warn Winch HS9500 planning on putting it on a Suzuki... only catch is its in a few pieces...

There is something wrong with this gear which i think is the carrier assembly stage 1...

Image

I dunno if you can see from the photo but there is a spot of weld which used to hold the gear fixed to the body, but it has torn out a section of the splines in the gear, and now lets the gear turn separate from the body...

From what i can work out this is suppost to be fixed to the body. Does anyone know how it is suppost to be attached? I'm guessing the weld is not factory issue???

On the stage 2 (looks the same just a little bigger) there is splines in the body which the gear locks and fits into, thus not allowing it to turn but there is no signs of splines in the stage 1. so i can't work out what is meant to stop it from turning...

So... Other than buying a new one (the stage 2 is $150) what would be the best way of fixing it? just putting a few more welds on and hope it holds? or put a pin through and weld the end of the pins?

hope that made sense...

Also looking for some service type manual/diagrams so i can get all the circlips etc in the correct places :D [/img]

Yeah not quite factory.
Normaly they are press fitted in, but if you did end up welding it in you would want to weld it on the other side of the gear set.You should be able to get a assembly drawing of the guy I told you about at fully equipped or easyier still off the warn web site.
It would also be far better to spen the money fixing it properly than to have a repaired part break or fail when you really need it. :!:

Cheers
