Hi all,
On my way home from Al's training day this arvo, I came to a stop at the intersection in Amberley. When I went to move off, I noticed that when I put my foot on the gas, the exhaust started to make a rasping noise like there was a hole in it. It sounded like it was coming from the engine bay. It did it straight away when you gave it the boot, stopped when the clutch pedal was pressed, then started again once the clutch pedal was let go. I noticed that if I kept the clutch pedal down, and gave it about 3500 rpm, that the noise was there. I assumed therefore, that it is doing it when the engine is under load.
When I got home, I checked everything over, and there is a small hole in the muffler, but that was there when I bought the truck. I can't see any holes etc from the exhaust in the engine bay, which is where the noise is coming from.
Any ideas where the leak is coming from. Just hope that the exhaust manifold isn't cracked.

Actually..i had something similar in a 38 ford sedan once....when it was still i could rev it & it was fine but under load it made banging noises....turn out one of the engine mounts had twisted off the chassis & when under load twisted more & the headers were banging on the chassis...took me ages to find as it looked fine from up top...but when i looked underneath was easy to see.
