whats a 2nd hand hilux box worth?

Im looking at geting an 86 lux with 3y but the gear box is about stuffed how much can you pick them up for?

I'd say 4-500 for a decent one,if you get stuck give me a yell.
Have got an old "88"surf laying about,gearbox intact but was told the clutch was rooted.
I spent $2500 getting mine recoed at a reputable gearbox place only to have it crap out 13 months later at the cost of another $1000.(they reckoned it was because the gearbox had no earth strap and static electrickery caused pitting on one of the bearings ???????????)
Found out later lineside had recoed units for around $1000 mark

thats more what i wanted to hear. this one needs double clutching going down.it doesnt grind tho just wont go into gear...

You can use an IFS surf box (W56) in it, but you need to trim a bit of the trans tunnel hole to fit it... make sure you get the rubber boot that goes with it as they are different. Everything else lines up ok tho.

Why did you buy a 'lux? Did I miss something here... wheres the Smurf?

hopefully buying it 2night. it was cheap hope to have a little fun with it then flick it off an make a little money. worst comes to worst i should be able to atleast get what i payed for it.
surf is still going as strong as an ifs surf can lol good to hear your still arround Steve.
