I had a look at the car last weekend... too expensive I guess.
The cruisers seems to be really overpriced at the moment.
But I will keep my eyes open for cruisers. I dont know if I can mention that here, but I think the Nissan Safaris seems to be reliable cars as well.
OK if you take it offroad its not going to remain a shiny truck, better to get something cheaper. don't forget to add $2000 per diff for difflocks, $1500 for mud tyres and rims, $1500-2000 for a winch, $1500 for an off the shelf winch bar....anything else?
That LWB one with the factory difflocks would be worth looking at

Jerry and Markus. If you are looking at Nissans, here is some things to look for on potental trucks:
Get a factory PTO winch (if it is a manual) or factory electric (if Auto). You will save $1500 to $2000 for a start.
Try and get a factory turbo. The non turbo are a bit gutless, especially once you put bigger tyres on. If you buy a non turbo make sure it is 1992 or older. The turbo and non turbo engines were the same until that date. This will allow you to turbo the engine at a later date ($3500).
If it is already lifted that is good. you can fit bigger tyres easily. Though having said that, lifting them is real easy.
Factory rear diff lock is a bonus if it has one fitted. These trucks go really well without the diff lock though. It will also teach you to drive your truck better if you learn without lockers.
As for parts and reliability, These trucks are real tough. they don't wear out if maintained well. You should not be put off by higher Km units.
You can find parts everywhere for them as well.
Markus if it was me I would break my budget down in this manner:
I would spend half my budget on the purchase of the truck and spend the other half over the next year modifing the truck. Don't modify the truck because someone says "this is what you sould have on it", go out on runs with club members and see the merrit of each mod in action.
Every one has an opinion on what makes a truck better, so make your own mind up.

I'm still happy with my light duty cruiser (Prado) I'm not looking at defecting to the dark (nissan) side ...well yet anyway , yeah what he said...the rear LSD of a pathfinder/Terrano will fit in the front of a safari too and most terrano's have LSD's.

Bear in mind that your missus may steal the extra $$$ you have aside for tyres (called Tah's in hillbilly country down there ), or you might not get approval to spend this later etc especially if she wants a new handbag or 6 or something.
Really depends what you want it for....or another option is get 2...a shiny truck and a don't care if you dent it truck..
