LN106 stereo surrond
LN106 stereo surrond
anyone know how to remove the dash area surrounding the stereo area so ya can get da stereo out?
Got a Daihatsu Something, hasn't got a Daihatsu engine.... or diffs.... and it doesn't have windows.... or doors.... but its got tyres....

this can be a big pain in the arse if you have never done it before. from memory, you pull the cub holder out and theres a screw to left. pull ash tray out and theres a screw holding the metal frame in, pull surrond off around ignition barrel and one in behind there, theres some in behind the glove box to.
if you undo the ones mentioned and get semi loose youll find the others that are holding it on. basically you gota pull the majority of the dash apart to it out!

from memory you need to take that cover out underneith all that crap (bottom of it sits on the g/box tunnel) couple of screws hiding behind the ash tray, whip the heater/fan knobs off, then carefully remove that lil plastic surround around the clock/heater (its a pain in the arse) cant quite remember if ya need to take the glove box out and that panel under the steering wheel.
hope you follow not the best instructions

you dont need to remove the glovebox but pretty much everything on the RHS of it.
Start low and do the transmission tunnel bit then the ignition barrel and steering shaft surround then the levers on the heater and gently prise that off (there is a screw or 2 behind there then the surround from the speedo across.
It goes back together better than you think just keep the screws in the removal stages that way you are less likley to use one (or three) too early.
